Infranord is the Nordic countries’ largest railway contractor. Our focus is on complete railway engineering services and contracting projects, with operations based in Sweden. Through development and collaboration with customers and others, we contribute to safe, punctual and environmentally adapted traffic. Infranord has approximately 3,000 employees, of which more than 2,000 are technicians with expertise in track, electrical, signal and telecom engineering. In 2010, we also established operations in Denmark. We have resources for all undertakings in the railway sector.
Construction
Infranord conducts both new construction and reconstruction projects in the track, electrical, signal and telecom fields of engineering. We have considerable experience in extensive track replacement assignments and we have expertise in installation and maintenance services for telecom and datacom, adapted to the railway sector. We conduct both smaller and major all-encompassing assignments. On our assignments, we take responsibility for planning, quality, co-ordination of safety, as well as work environment and environmental matters.
Service
Infranord provides service and maintenance contracting for railway infrastructures. We have broad technical know-how, staff at several locations and ample machinery with good geographical dispersion. Our largest customer is the Swedish Transport Administration but we also have major undertakings for the Greater Stockholm mass transit system (SL), the Gothenburg tram system, the Öresund Bridge and for various industrial track owners.
Machinery
Infranord provides all types of machinery services for construction projects and maintenance of rail networks. The services are primarily in track and points alignment and mechanical vegetation control. We also hire out machinery for ballast cleaning, track replacement, points installations, foundation setting and transports.
Mechanical measurement services
Infranord conducts mechanical measurement services in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. We have a well developed technique and machinery that is adapted to the job. Measurement assignments often entail a complete status assessment of track position, rail profile, rail wear and overhead contact line measurement.
Shops
Infranord builds equipment for signal engineering and manufactures prefabricated railway products in its shops in Nässjö. A portion of our customers are in the power industry. The company’s railway vehicles and machinery are also maintained in our shops.
Some of our assignments
- Citytunnel Malmö is a transport solution that links the railway north of Malmö with the railway towardsTrelleborg, Ystad and Copenhagen. It consists of a 17-kilometre long electrified railway connection of which 6 kilometres are parallel tunnels under Malmö Central. Infranord is the general contractor for construction of track, overhead contact lines and more than 20 points adjacent to the tunnel mouths, as well as 12 kilometres of ballast-free track, cast in the tunnels. The project entails extensive logistics with many subcontractors and
partially new fields of technology in the tunnel environment.
- Malmö Central is being rebuilt to permit connection of rail traffic from the southern mainline to the Citytunnel system. At the same time, the rebuilding is necessary for increasing rail traffic to and from Malmö. Infranord is rebuilding tracks and points, and laying tracks along an entirely new alignment. The undertaking includes all signal engineering, both for the railway yard and the Citytunnel.
- Infranord is conducting check measurements of the entire Banedanmark rail network. The assignment entails checking the condition of the tracks and overhead contact lines twice yearly. Corresponding assignments are
also being carried out in Denmark on the metro system and on a large number of private and local railways.
